Becki Rudeen writes dark, high-stakes young adult fantasy at the edge of science fiction—cities that hum with control, gifts that refuse to stay quiet, and sisters who will burn a regime to get each other home. Spark of the Silenced is her debut novel, born from a lifelong fascination with acoustics, industrial landscapes, and the question of who owns a voice. She is also a musician who loves to write, and her songs and stories often grow from the same obsessions: rhythm, resonance, memory, and the sounds people carry with them. She lives in the American Midwest, where she drafts late at night with too much coffee and a playlist of drones, choirs, and factory noise. When she is not writing, she is walking railroad cuts, making music, and listening for the frequencies nobody else notices.
