The Great Fruit Tree Gathering
Deep in the heart of a beautiful forest filled with sweet fruit, sparkling streams, and towering trees, the warm sun shone brightly through the canopy of leaves. It was a lovely afternoon beneath the Great Fruit Tree, where the air was sweet with the scent of ripening mangoes and juicy peaches. A gentle hum of happiness filled the woods, for this was a place where special friends lived, loved God, and tried every day to share His goodness with one another.
Love the Lion stood near the wide, mossy roots of the great tree. His golden mane glowed warmly in the sunlight, and his amber eyes looked softly upon all the activity around him. He raised his deep, gentle voice to call his friends together for their afternoon gathering. "Come, dear friends," Love said with a calm smile. "Let us gather beneath the shaded branches and rest a while after our busy morning."
Not far from the tree, Good the Gorilla was hard at work. Good was big and strong, with broad shoulders and very kind brown eyes. He saw a family of small squirrels struggling near a tall oak tree. They were trying to move a giant pile of heavy hickory nuts to their cozy nest before the sun went down. Good did not wait to be asked for help. He walked over with a big, friendly grin and knelt on the soft grass.
Good picked up a handful of the heavy nuts. "I am always happy to lift what is heavy for you, little neighbors," Good said softly. "God gave me strong arms so I can help those who need a hand."
The mother squirrel chattered happily, her small black eyes bright with delight. Good carried the big pile of nuts easily, placing them safely inside the root hollow where the squirrel family lived. He wiped his hands on his chest and smiled, feeling happy in his heart because he knew that serving others was a wonderful way to show God's love.
Down by the Sparkling Stream, Kindness the Kangaroo was busy doing her part to help their forest neighbors. She wore her favorite colorful sash, filled with little pockets that held sweet berries, soft leaves, and clean bandages. Kindness hopped gently along the muddy bank, making sure not to splash any water. Bouncing happily right beside her was her little girl, Joy the Joey. Joy wore a bright crown of yellow daisies that tipped back and forth on her small, fuzzy ears every time she took a leap.
Two elderly turtles were resting on a warm, flat rock by the water. They moved very slowly and looked tired after their long crawl down from the hill. Kindness reached into her deep, cozy pouch and pulled out a handful of plump, red berries that had been washed in the cool stream water. "Here are some sweet treats for you today, friends," Kindness said with a brisk and cheery voice. "We want to make sure you have plenty of energy for your afternoon rest."
Joy hopped forward, her big round eyes shining with wonder. She handed a small blue blueberry to the smallest turtle. "This one is extra sweet!" Joy chirped with a high, happy giggle. "It tastes just like sunshine! Are you having a happy day, Mr. Turtle?"
The old turtle chewed the berry slowly and nodded his head, his wrinkled eyes crinkling into a smile. "It is a very good day, sweet little one," he replied softly. Joy clapped her small hands together and did a tiny jump in the air, her yellow flower crown falling slightly over one eye. Her cheerful laughter bounced across the water, making the elderly turtles smile even wider.
Meanwhile, Faith the Frog sat very still on her favorite smooth stone right at the edge of the rushing stream. Her bright green skin glittered in the sunshine, and her golden eyes were wide and watchful. Faith always remembered to do what she promised. Earlier that morning, she had promised Love the Lion that she would help collect ripe peaches for the big harvest, and she was waiting patiently for her friends to finish their chores.
As Faith sat quietly on her rock, she looked up at the sky. She noticed a group of blue dragonflies buzzing above the water. Usually, the dragonflies zoomed high into the warm air, playing tag among the treetops. But today, they were flying very low, almost touching the small ripples on the water. Faith tilted her head. She looked down at the Sparkling Stream and saw a strange, restless movement in the water. The gentle bubbles were turning into small swirling circles, and the little fish were swimming quickly toward the deep bottom.
Faith hopped off her stone and made her way over to where Love the Lion was standing beneath the Great Fruit Tree. She hopped with precise, steady bounds, stopping right beside Love's large, soft paw.
"Love," Faith croaked softly, her voice clear and steady. "I promised to gather peaches with everyone today, and I am here to keep my word. But I must tell you something unusual. The dragonflies are flying near the mud, and the water in the stream is moving in a very strange way."
Love the Lion turned his noble head toward his small friend. He listened carefully to her words, for he knew Faith was very observant and always spoke the truth. Love looked past the sweet canopy of the fruit trees and turned his gaze toward the far horizon. High above the distant mountains, the bright blue sky was beginning to change. A thin, dark line of purple clouds was slowly crawling across the distant view, looking like a dusty smudge against the blue afternoon sky.
Just then, Good the Gorilla finished helping the squirrels and walked over to join the group, followed closely by Kindness and Joy. They all gathered under the spreading leaves of the great tree, surrounded by the sweet smell of ripe fruit.
A sudden, cool breeze blew through the forest, making the heavy green leaves whisper to one another. The warm air quickly turned cool, and a few small branches swayed softly back and forth. Little Joy held onto her mother's sash, feeling the chilly wind tickle her nose.
"The breeze is changing," Love said in his deep, comforting voice, looking at all his dear friends. "A storm may be coming our way by nighttime. But we do not need to worry. We will finish our work together, share our sweet fruit, and trust that God will take care of us through whatever the sky brings."
The friends smiled at each other, feeling peaceful and warm inside despite the cool wind. Together, they reached up to harvest the sweet fruit, ready to help one another through the changing day.

The Purple Horizon
The bright golden light of the warm afternoon began to vanish far quicker than usual, swallowed up by a thick, heavy purple cloud that stretched across the sky like a giant dark wall. The gentle breeze that had once blown through the fruit trees suddenly turned sharp and chill, rustling the green leaves until they chattered nervously against one an…
