When I first met my wife nearly five decades ago, I had no idea I was giving a hug to my greatest partner—in every sense of the word. Back then, we were two young dreamers with more ambition than money, more hope than experience, and absolutely no clue about the adventures ahead. All I knew was that she was a force of nature: smart, driven, funny, and—if I’m being honest—a little intimidating in the best possible way. She still is.

Now, after 38 years of marriage, two grown kids, four beautiful grandkids, and a lifetime of building, failing, trying again, and learning how to figure things out, I can say with certainty: there is no business, no deal, no project, and no victory sweeter than the partnership we’ve built together. That’s what this book is about. It’s not a textbook or a manual. It’s a testament to the messy, exhilarating, and—if you’re lucky—enduring act of building both a marriage and a legacy.

You see, people love to talk about “power couples,” but most of them miss what it really means.
